I would then have a slow wander out to the pitch just to get my bearings with the stands etc and to check the goalmouths. I wanted to be prepared for any eventuality!. On my way back in I'd stop to have a brief chat with our Chairman or Secretary and have a bit of banter with some fans before returning to the changing room where nearly everyone was ready for action. I don't know why but one of my superstitions was to be the last player ready (I had a few more but I'll not mention them all!). Basically what I'm trying to get across is that everybody is an individual and not all will respond to the same treatment. That is when it becomes critical to know your goalkeeper and their traits, only then will you be able to bring out their full potential.
